The White Bunny

Reclaimed material contemporary art gives voice to forgotten fragments of life by transforming urban refuse into poetic narratives. As part of my ongoing Stories series, this three-dimensional piece rescues abandoned resources, reflecting my personal journey across borders and reinventions. I construct the composition on a discarded advertising panel made of honeycomb cardboard, creating an intriguing dialogue between industrial scrap and gentle storytelling.

A miniature white plastic bunny wearing a vibrant magenta tiara forms the heart of the piece. This endearing figurine clearly belonged to a young child who loved sweet toys. Time separated the small creature from its owner, casting it away into oblivion. Through reclaimed material contemporary art, I lift this silent survivor from obscurity and offer it a fresh narrative stage.

I use tinted epoxy resin to unite the disparate elements into a cohesive aesthetic universe. The poured resin forms an organic, tear-shaped lake of soft seafoam green across the cardboard surface. Along one margin, vibrant pink and milky white pigments feather into a delicate crest, evoking petrified froth or blooming coral. The glossy pool firmly anchors the bunny, whose blue eyes gaze upward from the surface in quiet resilience. The crystalline sheen of the resin contrasts strikingly against the matte, fibrous texture of the raw board underneath.

Working with discarded items allows me to explore vulnerability, memory, and spatial belonging. I consciously preserve the character of each found component, letting past scars inform the final visual balance. The crowned bunny mirrors anyone who has experienced displacement and found unexpected footing again.
