Opening Reception (Vernissage): Saturday, 10 October 2026 at 17:30
Galleria ARTtime presents Soglia Aperta (Open Threshold), a comprehensive solo exhibition showcasing the recent artistic research of Antonella Quacchia.
Born in Gorizia, a city historically shaped by a physical and conceptual border, Antonella Quacchia has developed an artistic language deeply rooted in transition, shifting boundaries, and personal transformation.
Following an extensive scientific career in computer science at CERN and the International Labour Organization, her practice operates as a rigorous yet poetic form of material alchemy, translating fractured memories, movement, and layered identities into profound visual narratives.
Soglia Aperta invites viewers to cross a symbolic threshold where matter, vibrant pigments, and memory continuously converse. The exhibition brings together three central series from the artist’s oeuvre: Sensitive Horizons, Serendipity, and Stories.
- Sensitive Horizons (Orizzonti Sensibili): Characterized by a striking horizontal divide between a textured lower realm (earth/matter) and a luminous chromatic expanse above (air/atmosphere). Each piece embraces essential minimalism, where the chosen pigment not only defines the sky but lends its title to the work itself. Overlaid fragments of tissue paper and delicate textures animate a quiet dialogue between silence and vibration, reflecting both an ultra-sensitive soul and a methodical, balanced mind.
- Serendipity: In this series, epoxy resin takes center stage as an evocative, fluid medium. Meeting dense pigments, it cures into mirror-like, gleaming surfaces that expand two-dimensional space. Born out of open-ended material exploration and unexpected discoveries, Serendipity captures light, movement, and magnetic depth.
- Stories (Storie): These three-dimensional sculptural installations explore renewal, upcycling, and the re-contextualization of found objects. Antique Bohemian crystal trays - esteemed pieces steeped in personal and Central European history - form the foundational bases. Combined with poured resin, gold leaf, and small animal figurines, abandoned items shed their original utility and are reborn as protagonists of lyrical, miniature universes.
